Vision

Basic or Buy-up Coverage

Vision coverage is available through Vision Service Plan (VSP) with two options: Basic Vision Plan and Buy-up Vision Plan.

To receive maximum benefits, you must visit a provider from the nationwide Vision Service Plan (VSP) network. You do have the option to visit a non-VSP provider at a reduced benefit.

The coverage between the two vision plans is very similar, although the Buy-up Plan provides a higher allowance when you purchase glasses and elective contacts. You will always pay less when you use VSP network providers.

How it Works

Using VSP Providers

When you visit a VSP network provider:

  • Provide your Social Security number
  • No claim forms to file
  • Immediate coverage verification
  • Pay only low copayments

Using Non-VSP Providers

When using non-VSP providers:

  • Submit itemized bills to VSP
  • Reimbursement based on scheduled amounts
  • You pay difference between charges and scheduled amounts
